Bank of Ireland visit to Primary 6/7
18th Apr 2026
Cathy from the Bank of Ireland in Newry called in to our class to talk to the children about money and financial capability. She taught the children why money was ever invented and explained what bartering means. We discussed the difference between debit cards and credit cards. We learned about foreign currency and looked at a variety of coins which we currently use and compared them to the older, heavier versions. It was a very informative lesson. She gave all P7s a leaflet about opening a student account and explained that if parents wish to open an account, she will return to school and parents can sign up in our school.
