Farm Fun and Wheaten Bread Baking!
As part of our farm topic, we’ve been learning all about where our food comes from – and this week, we got hands-on with some baking!
Our focus story was The Little Red Hen, which helped us understand how wheat is grown, harvested, and ground into flour. We talked about how flour is used to make bread – and then we got to try it for ourselves!
Using Miss Welsh’s granny’s wheaten bread recipe, the whole class got stuck in. Everyone had a turn – measuring, mixing, kneading, and even shaping the loaf before it went into the oven.
It was a brilliant way to bring our learning to life – and the bread tasted delicious too!
We think the Little Red Hen would’ve been very impressed!
