As part of Maths Week, our P1 and P2 pupils had a fantastic time exploring the concept of number and addition through the use of Numicon.
To make our learning even more exciting, we played a special game of Hide and Seek! P1 pupils worked in pairs with P2s to hide and find Numicon pieces. Each time they discovered a pair, their task was to find the total of the two numbers.
For P1, the activity helped develop one to one correspondence, number recognition and matching shapes to numbers.
For P2, it encouraged the use of addition strategies and an understanding of the addition and equals symbols.
