Maths Week Fun in Primary 3! 🎲
20th Oct 2025
We've had an amazing time celebrating Maths Week in Primary3 with lots of exciting, hands-on activities that made learning maths fun and memorable!
First, we kicked things off with a Smartie Investigation! We estimated how many Smarties were in our tubes, then sorted them by colour. We used tallies and bar charts to record our findings and discovered that each tube was different — both in the number of Smarties and the colour distribution!
Then we got creative with marshmallows and toothpicks, building both 2D and 3D shapes. We counted the sides and vertices of our 2D shapes, and explored faces, edges, and vertices on our 3D creations. So much sticky fun with lots of learning along the way!
We also enjoyed playing some classic maths board games like Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, and Connect Four. These helped us practise counting, strategy, and turn-taking – all important maths skills!
To finish off the week, we took our maths outside and measured the width of our playground using our feet! A great way to explore non-standard units of measurement.
It’s been a fantastic week full of discovery, problem-solving, and laughter. Well done, Primary 3 – you showed great enthusiasm and teamwork in every activity! 🌟👏
